Machining

ADDEV Materials has comprehensive machining expertise. With a modern set of machines that offer a broad scope of design and production options, ADDEV Materials can manufacture complex, high-tech parts.

Using numerical control (NC) machines or conventional machines (milling, turning and sawing), ADDEV Materials can produce small to large parts in small and medium-size production runs, and can apply the expertise needed to meet the most demanding requirements.

This expertise with these machining techniques delivers tight tolerances, with no tooling costs.

Examples of the product we can machine:

Insulating parts
• Thermoset plastics
• Composite materials
• Polycarbonate parts
• Thermoplastics

Techniques and methods for machining insulating and thermoset material

Sawing

Sawing is the first stage in the shaping of a machined part.

For production runs ranging from small to large, ADDEV Materials can saw all its materials using various types of saw:

  • panel saws
  • automatic chop saws
  • board cutting machines for small thicknesses

Numerical control trimming saw: a saw used to accurately prepare cut product prior to small or large production runs, able to handle thicknesses from 0.2 to 102 mm with a cutting tolerance of +/– 0.2 mm.

Milling

Milling is a manufacturing process during which the part is shaped by removing material in the form of chips.

Milling is performed on an NC machine, which is well suited to the machining of both prismatic parts and parts with a complex profile.

ADDEV Materials’s set of milling machines includes 3- and 4-axis machines which can produce parts with large dimensions: e.g. press platens, mould bases, flanges, cheeks, spacers, guides, shims, etc.

Other tools:
NC contour/profiling miller: this machine has a high capacity table and is used to produce, without clamping, housings, seals, parts for conveyor lines and other miscellaneous parts for industry.

Turning

Turning is a machining process based on the removal of material. The material to be machined is clamped in the jaws of a chuck and then shaped using cutting tools. This process produces simple or complex cylindrical and/or conical parts.

ADDEV Materials has a NC and a conventional bar-turning lathe which it uses to produce roller wheels, pulleys, guide pins, pinions, centering devices, washers, etc. made of high-performance plastics and thermoset laminates.

Varnishing and other extra services

ADDEV Materials offers extra services, such as assembling parts (by bonding or fitting inserts) and varnishing product to meet requirements.

Our processes:

  • Assembling materials by bonding (two-part expoxy adhesive, CAF silicone adhesive, cyanoacrylate adhesive, etc.) or using mechanical fasteners (composite materials or metal)
  • Fitting of wire thread inserts, self-tapping threaded inserts, etc.
  • Finishing of parts with a protective varnish, penetrating varnish, conformal coatings, etc. : anti-tracking varnish, alkyd varnish, etc.
  • Assembling composites
  • Kitting: the delivery of packs of different types of part for a specific applictaion, ready-to-use.
